Can Your Book Help Me?

Hi Desi,

I came across your Fretboard Theory book on Amazon and subsequently visited your web site. I'd like to know if your book can help me.

I've been taking lessons for over a year I'm no longer making any progress. I feel that this is because I don't understand the guitar. I have an engineering brain but a poor memory so trying to learn facts doesn't help me much. I have no idea why notes and chords are where they are on the fretboard which makes learning them difficult for me. I also have no idea how to listen to a sound and then figure out where to play that sound on the guitar - which makes learning songs very difficult. I tend to work on a new song each week and in that time, forget the songs I learned in previous weeks. Revisiting a song is almost a case of relearning it from scratch because I have to memorize the pattern of the song - which can be complex!

As an engineer, I like to understand why things are the way they are. Once I know this, everything else simply falls into place. Although I have looked at your free download, the first page of each chapter doesn't tell me if the book gives sufficient context or simply facts (i.e. why versus what), so I thought I'd ask you. Can your book help me understand why things are the way they are, or does it focus more on finding easier ways to commit things to memory?

If you feel that the book may not help me, I'd be very grateful if you would suggest one that would. Before finding your book, I was investigating the Fretboard Roadmaps series, but I am concerned that the books will be too short to provide sufficient context to help me understand "why", rather than simply memorising "what".

Thank you for taking the time to read my email and respond. I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
Bryan

Thanks for the email Bryan. This is a great question. Judging by your description, I think you are a perfect candidate for my book, Fretboard Theory. In fact, I wrote the book with your kind of interest in mind.

Why don't we try a little experiment? Order my guitar theory course and I'll offer you an unlimited money back guarantee. This means you can take your time with the material. If you eventually feel that it doesn't meet your needs, then you can return it for a full refund. If you find that it is exactly what you'd hoped for, then I get to use your comments as a testimonial. Deal?
