Hi Desi!
I've been playing for almost 30 years, no real training, no real theory. I was pretty solidly stuck in the pentatonic hole until I started reading Fretboard Theory. I am now slowly digging my way out. The book is absolutely fantastic and I really feel the entire instrument slowly opening up to me. I am able to see things, connections, sounds that I have never before seen. Many thanks for such a great book!
Ok, here's my problem. I've followed everything up to page 58 with no problem. I just don't get WHY the minor chord forms require the pentatonic scale to shift. I know that's the way it sounds correct, but I want to know the why. Also, why have the names of the shapes changed? Why is the shape we used to call "G shape" now called "Em" shape? Also, what are the chord patterns and arpeggios for the minor CAGED group?
Many thanks for your help. Once again, the book is awesome!
Best,
vk
