Will the pentatonic ever NOT work

About guitar scales. How to learn and use the pentatonic scale to play melodies, riffs, lead guitar solos, bass lines and songs. How to map the fretboard and connect pentatonic scale patterns. Plus music theory and how to play over chords and progressions.

Will the pentatonic ever NOT work

Say you have a crazy progression that changes keys like this.
| C - E7 - | A7 - - - | Dm - A7 - | Dm - - - | F - D7 - | C - A7 - | D7 - G11 G7 | C - G7 - |
Can you solo using the pentatonic scale with a progression like this?
Are there any chords in a progression that the pentatonic scale will clash with?

This progression sounds familiar. What song is it?

It's just from a jam track I have. Not sure what song. You can download it here. http://sites.google.com/site/ics1974site/Home/40BPM.mid?attredirects=0&d=1
So how would you use the pentatonic scale over this progression?

The song is "Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out" by Eric Clapton. You can view it on YouTube.

This song is a series of key changes. You can't play one pentatonic scale over the whole progression, you'll need to switch scales. And simply using pentatonic scales probably won't sound right as this song has a strong jazz, dominant scale (mixolydian mode) and even harmonic minor flavor. A good jazz player would go to town on this. But notice in the video to this song that Clapton doesn't play a guitar solo. Like most guitar players, he's not the type to negotiate through a series of key changes with a variety of scales. So he leaves the task to his piano player! The piano solo begins at 1:48.

I have written about this topic before.
