Where do you suggest getting guitar tab from online?

Just Google search "guitar tab." It's all over the place! I prefer to do a broad search like this instead of searching each and every tab site independently. If you're looking for a specific song, then search the words "guitar tab" plus the name of the song and the artist. For example, guitar tab purple haze jimi hendrix. This will give you ALL the locations on the web. Most of the free stuff is posted by amateurs and is frequently incorrect or incomplete. If you can't make sense of a tab, move onto the next until you find something that sounds right. Don't be afraid to pay for the good stuff. A great website to search for complete and accurate guitar tab books and sheet music is MusicDispatch.com. You can buy and and print individual songs one at a time at SheetMusicDirect.us. Don't forget that I give away free tab for some of the songs I reference in my guitar theory book and DVDs. If you're a customer and missed this free guitar tab, then just email me and let me know. New visitors can sign up for a free preview of my book Fretboard Theory and receive, among other things, free guitar tab.

Another thing I like about sheetmusic direct is that they have a play button that allows you to hear the song played on a simple keyboard. Does great to get the song in your head and you can slow the tempo down to.

Hey, I love the podcasts and the e-book, but do you have a recommendation on the best way to find the tabs for the songs you reference in the various lessons? My musical ear is still in its infancy and I just can't pick it out. Thanks.

Stream and Listen to Free Songs
Thanks for the email Bob. First of all, if you're looking to hear the guitar theory songs I reference you can stream free music at: http://Deezer.com

Free Guitar Theory Tab
As for the song tabs, use the free guitar tab I give away to all visitors and customers. For the rest, you're on your own. If you're serious about developing a strong working knowledge of guitar theory and applying it to the fret board, then learning songs is critical. Follow through!

Tab is available all over the internet including much of it for free. Just Google search "guitar tab" and then add the song title and artist. You'll get all the hits this way (rather than searching at one website at a time). Many of the free tabs are posted by amateurs and as a result are incomplete and/or incorrect. Keep searching and you'll find something that's close enough. Don't be afraid to pay for the good stuff. Below is a copy of a message I sent out about buying guitar tab.

Buy, Download and Print Individual Guitar Tab One Song at a Time
All Guitar Tab, Easy Guitar Tab, and Bass Tab selections on Sheet Music Direct are now only 99¢! That's right -- for less than a buck you can get artist-approved, accurate tab.

Here, you're not going to find a bunch of X's and O's that look more like football plays drawn up on a chalkboard instead of music. No, these puppies are the real deal, complete with staff notation, time signatures, bends, vibrato, hammer-ons, and all the other essential details most others lack. Plus, these tabs are transcribed by professionals who are the best in the business, so you know you won't be wasting your time sorting through pages of stuff put up on the net by someone who may or may not know the difference between a G string and a pair of boxer shorts.

Sheet Music Direct is truly your source for Guitar Tab. At only 99¢, what more could anyone ask for?
